The resulting shooting at the mosque, which led to the death of two innocent mosque goers, is causing a public relations problem, especially as eyewitness accounts differ from that of the official FBI statement regarding whether the FBI had any provocation for shooting, and if the FBI indeed did shoot first. Despite knowing he is doing good work in the community, Carrie is certain the imam knows more than he is stating publicly about whether there was any relationship between Walker and the mosque. Saul thinks he knows a way for Carrie to get that information, as Carrie's heavy handed approach with the imam is getting her nowhere, he who wants some sort of justice for the shooting victims' families. Meanwhile, Walker has retreated to the woods to calibrate his firearm. And Brody, out grocery shopping on his own, is violently mugged. That mugging and resulting .. And ain’t nothing like a hug from Saul “The Bear” Berenson, that much is certain. It’s been an interesting exercise separating them all season, but I’m glad to see them back in full Batman and Robin form (and no, I’m not sure which one is Batman and which is Robin). Saul clearly regrets the hard stance he took with Carrie earlier in the season when she told him her life was in danger, even if the original reason for their estrangement remains (and is referenced once again here by Saul’s old Israeli friend Etai). Unfortunately for Saul, Carrie’s big revelation about Allison was a painful one for the ladies’ former teacher. There was no way for Carrie to know that she would be hurting Saul with the knowledge of her deception, not that it would’ve mattered anyway, but things were made even worse once the surveillance operation was in effect and Allison had that WTF date with some random dude. She really is one cool customer though, isn’t she? She finds out from Astrid and Astrid’s boss that she could be on the verge of getting outed as a Russian mole, and what does she do? Take a few deep breaths and then settle on Italian food over Vietnamese. The episode clicked into classic Homeland with the sequence involving the satellite tracking of Allison as she met with Astrid once again and was finally flustered enough to fly the coop. With Carrie and Saul and a team full of techs watching from the sky, Allison’s skillful escape saw the character’s state of mind morph from panic to cool and collected as she for once took the lead with Ivan the Russian. Even with her seemingly caught red- handed (Red- handed, ha!), Allison turned the tables by episode’s end with the claim that she was bringing Ivan in as the longstanding asset she’s been mining for info for the past 1. Saul taught her well! And then there’s Quinn, who also has really had the tables turned on him recently. Not that long ago he seemed to be running a bunch of wannabe terrorists into the desert to get themselves blown to hell. But now he’s stuck in a containment tank serving as a sarin test subject for these guys. He seems to have gotten through to the one remaining wannabe, who helpfully injected him with that anti- sarin dose of atropine right before Quinn was doused. Reddit: the front page of the internet. Discussion Homeland - 6x12 "America First" - Episode Discussion (self.homeland) submitted 29 days ago by NicholasCajun. And while atropine is a real- life thing, I couldn’t help but wonder if Quinn would be pulling a Jack Bauer when he inevitably survives such a concentrated dose. Google would seem to indicate, however, that this isn’t as far- fetched as it might seem. By the way, have you noticed that Laura the journalist has taken a back seat lately? I guess she’ll rear her Pulitzer- seeking head again eventually, but I certainly don’t miss her. The character just never clicked. Numan has also been reduced to techy- tech support staff guy for the most part, even though the writers seemed to have bigger plans for him earlier in the season. And as the spy game narrowed this week, even During was AWOL. Some notes: Quinn could really use his doctor guardian angel right about now. This new guy isn’t cutting it. Plus, doctor. It looks like Quinn’s story will finally converge with Carrie and Saul’s next week, albeit in a manner that could’ve worked out better for the super- spy himself. Dar Adal was kind of played the fool by Allison not once but twice now, assuming he truly is buying into her story about bringing the Russian in. I expect better from Dar. The Verdict. Meanwhile, Quinn’s situation went from bad to way, way worse, but Quinn being Quinn means there’s probably not much to worry about there.
